What is Gestational Diabetes? It’s diabetes that occurs in non-diabetic women during pregnancy. Like type one and type 2 diabetes, the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or use the insulin it produces in the proper way. Gestational Diabetes affects about 3 to 6 percent of all pregnant women. It usually begins in the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy weeks 24 and 28 and usually disappears shortly after delivery.

Pregnancy is a time of promise and expectation, but it can also raise the possibility for some women that they will develop Gestational Diabetes Mellitus or GDM. If you are uncertain if you have gestational diabetes, you need to check with your Doctor. High sugar levels can harm your baby and your own body if not kept under control.

This is a wonderful video of some of the important aspects with what is Gestational Diabetes in pregnancy. Please watch this video and then get more information about diabetes from my blog and the other related links on the left side of my website.
