Nick Jonas has type one diabetes. He found out he had type one diabetes in November of 2005. How did this Jonas Brother find out he had diabetes? He noticed symptoms of diabetes which are common for people who don’t have their sugar level regulated. (Thirst, using the bathroom more frequently, being irritated)
Nick Jonas did the right thing when he found out he was a diabetic! He started to test his sugar level, and started giving himself insulin! Soon after, he got an insulin pump to manage his diabetes since he is on the road a lot. The insulin pump has helped him have better control of his diabetes and now he has less low blood sugars.
How about Nick’s A1C? At first it was at 11-12% but with the insulin pump and better management of his diabetes, this Jonas Brother has brought his A1C down to 7-8%. (A diabetic’s goal is to get their A1C level under 7%.)
In March 2007, Nick Jonas publicly announced that he had diabetes. Instead of allowing himself to be embarrassed of his diabetic condition, this Jonas Brother put his condition in the forefront! Now his fans are asking him about his condition and many fans are stating they are a diabetic or know someone who has diabetes! Pretty awesome way to handle this disease!
