For me, the hardest factor of having type one diabetes is getting low blood sugar. Diabetes symptoms (that I experience) include the following:

  • Sweaty
  • Fatigue or Drowsy
  • Confusion
  • Irritable
  • Slow Speech

For those who experience low blood sugar levels, you might agree with me that when you have an episode, (such as sugar levels under 50 or 60) you can easily want the diabetes symptoms to just go away.  It is easy to “raid the refrigerator” and keep eating and drinking till you feel better. The problem with that, is “raiding the frig” will only put you on a roller coaster and the next problem you have is high blood sugar levels. Can I get an amen on that one? :)

Diabetic Cartoon by Diabetes Health

When a diabetic has a low blood sugar, the goal is to eat or drink enough sugar to raise the sugar level to normal. (85 – 120) Eat some fruit, a 6 ounce glass of juice or something that will get into your system very quickly.  (But not a starchy carb like bread!) Once you eat the food,  sit down and wait! In 20-30 minutes, test yourself to see if you are in a normal range. If you still have low blood sugar, repeat the process.

“Raiding the frig” is not the answer to your low blood sugar diabetes symptoms!! But I must confess, this cartoon is what I looked like at times in my life. My husband can attest to it! So what are your confessions when you have had a low blood sugar? Share your diabetes experiences with me!

A better free link exchange community site to get a backlink for your site is linksdomatter.com. I really would rather link with relevant sites specifically related to diabetes or the medical field.

    Thanks!
