Do you own an insulin pump? I have the Medtronic Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump. This insulin pump allows you to connect your pump to a meter and also can use the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system. This insulin pump uses transmitters to connect to the glucose meter.  You can also link to Medtronic to upload your glucose numbers ~ practically carefree! Once uploaded, you can see fantastic graphs and reports to evaluate for yourself or for your Endocrinologist Doctor.

I really do enjoy the Medtronic Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump.  For myself, it has been an adjustment to carry a gadget. But most young people today carry some type of computer communication gadget.

Unfortunately, my health insurance did not cover the CGM because my A1C level was “not out of control.” I’ve had very low blood sugar levels (like 45-50!) that could be controlled better with the CGM! That opens the door for a completely different topic! Health insurance companies should provide the best care to prevent future medical problems.

The best thing about insulin pumps is my ability to eat small amounts of food when ever I want. I give myself the insulin and don’t need to prick myself like I used to! You do have to change the sites every three to four days, but what is one prick on the skin when I used to give myself 4-6 insulin shots per day?

If you are looking for more information about the Medtronic Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump, here is a great video that will introduce you to it! If you have questions or would like my diabetic experience and my opinion, feel free to contact me!
